Did you know that a differential pressure sensor indicates when the particulate filter needs to be changed?

December 22, 2025

In modern commercial vehicles, the differential pressure sensor plays a crucial role in the exhaust gas after-treatment system. Its mission is simple but vital: to measure the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet of the particulate filter (DPF).

Thanks to this information, the vehicle's control unit can:

Detect the degree of saturation of the filter. When the DPF fills with soot, the inlet pressure increases and the sensor registers this accurately.

Activate automatic regeneration. If the filter is still recoverable, the cleaning process is started to burn out the accumulated particles.

Warn to replace the filter. When the regenerations are no longer sufficient, the sensor warns that the DPF needs to be changed to avoid serious damage.

At Cojali Parts we continue to develop components that help protecting the engine, reducing emissions and extending the life of aftertreatment systems.

Because such a small sensor can make all the difference to the profitability of your fleet.
