DID YOU KNOW THAT TRUCKS HAVE DIFFERENT TYPES OF BRAKE CALIPERS?

January 13, 2021

The brake #calipers are components that carry out the brake actuation of the wheel in brake disc systems. In #trucks, this component is one of the most important ones, since it is the final actuation element on the brake disc.

Although there are fixed brake calipers, the most used ones in the industrial sector are the floating brake calipers, which are made up of a fixed element attached to the chassis and a mobile component, to which the brake actuator is installed.

These #components carry out a relative movement between them that makes the brake pads squeeze against the disc.

Depending on the vehicle application, the brake calipers can be hydraulic or pneumatic. The #hydraulic ones are used in rigid vehicles with low gross weight, while the #pneumatic ones are more used in applications with heavy towed vehicles, due to its greater braking power.
